Our standard hive management service includes visits every 2-3 weeks during active season (spring and summer) and monthly visits during winter. However, we customize visit frequency based on colony needs, weather conditions, and client preferences.

Honeybees are generally less aggressive than wasps and hornets, have a more robust, hairy body, and are golden-brown in color. Wasps and hornets typically have shiny, smooth bodies with more distinctive yellow and black markings. If you're unsure what species you're dealing with, we can help with identification over the phone or via emailed photos.

There's no formal license required for beekeeping in the UK. However, you should register your hives with the National Bee Unit through BeeBase (which is free). If you're renting property, you'll need landlord permission, and some local council areas may have specific regulations. Our consultation service can help you navigate these requirements.

Honey production varies widely depending on bee race, location, weather, available forage, and hive strength. A healthy colony in a good location might produce 10-30kg of honey annually. First-year colonies typically produce less as they establish themselves. Our management services aim to optimize honey production while ensuring colony health.

A single hive needs about 1 square meter of space, plus room for the beekeeper to work (approximately 2 square meters around the hive). Ideally, hives should be placed where they receive morning sun, with some afternoon shade in summer, and protection from strong winds. We can conduct a site assessment to determine the optimal placement for your property.

Yes! We offer age-appropriate workshops for children from age 5 upwards. All our educational staff are DBS checked and experienced in working with school groups. We provide child-sized protective equipment for hands-on activities and adapt content to match curriculum requirements and attention spans.
